My wife was able to wear this hiking suit right away without breaking it in. The boots are totally waterproof - we walked to the waterfall right after the rain and had to cross a lot of small streams. They also have additional protection against dirt. They gave their feet more protection on the rocks than their lighter hiking boots. They offered very good traction in slippery areas. She is very, very happy with the look of these boots. We highly recommend them!

I usually wear double socks (wool lining for hiking and light cotton to wick moisture) in my hiking boots. These boots out of the box were too tight for my double sock. A thick hiking sock was enough for a 2-mile hike. The boots worked well, I had no problems with friction. If you had a true size 10 I would order.
