The product description and the picture show that this pulley is designed for a V-ribbed belt. The pulley I received is not designed for the serpentine belt. It has no grooves. This creates a large load on the motor shaft, enough to flex the entire vacuum head. After reading the reviews I see that this seller has already tried to give them away and people have complained. Why do they keep misrepresenting the product?

I returned it. Apparently this is a generic replacement part and despite being listed it doesn't quite fit my vacuum cleaner model. There are bristles where my belt should wrap around the pulley. Also, it looks like it's designed for flat belts that wrap around a wooden pulley, but my belt is ribbed and needs to have a plastic guide on the pulley to fit the ribbed belt. Unfortunately, Sears no longer produces original spools.

Bought to replace my 4 year old in my Kenmore Progressive vacuum. The other actually melted the end cap for this thing. I hesitated because several reviews said it wasn't good. The replacement roller brush is the right size for the length. It has new, fully working bearings at each end and the plastic end caps are intact. However the picture shows that it has a ribbed belt track/pulley but that is NOT the case. The serpentine belt requires a groove track. I didn't have to shell out the extra money for a more expensive serpentine belt for this roller brush as a cheaper flat belt would work. My old hair roller wobbled and vibrated - it got stuck in my wife's very long hair pretty quickly too! The new roller eliminated vibration and made the vacuum cleaner quieter. The design of the new roller looks like it will prevent hair from clogging the mechanism - time will tell. Although this assembly does NOT have grooves cut into the pulley to match the belt grooves, it fits perfectly. It rolls much smoother than the old one and the engine doesn't seem to run like it used to. This device is about four times cheaper than the original Sears device, which is nice. The brush bristles are longer than my old (worn out) bristles and seem to clean the carpet much better. I'm very glad I bought it and it was easy to replace.
