Ease of use and security.

Well made, works well and attaches easily and securely to your belt. The cable tension is about right. The lock button is a little tight and difficult to move, but the lock works well. The locking knob seems to loosen a bit with use. I used a carabiner key holder but dropped it under the car seat a couple of times where it was very difficult to get it out. The key-bak holder solves this problem perfectly. I am very satisfied with this device.

Pros
  • Heavy duty aramid fiber cable with a minimum breaking strength of 80 pounds
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Summary: Don't buy the new 'lock' series , It's an imperfect system. Stick with the "Super" series with a ball lock feature. If you want to know why, here's a full review: a locking "ball" that locks the key fob on top holds when not in use) but this new "improved" series called "Lock" complete bullshit. They tried to shrink the case which is a good move but they also have the already perfect " "Ball Lock" system abolished and a new sliding lock implemented on the top of the case. It would be…

Pros
  • The locking switch takes the strain off the cable when you pull it out
Cons
  • Expensive

year in review. Pretty solid with a few areas that need work.

My main working key set is probably 12-15 commercial Schlage/Best/Sargent keyways plus 3-4 elevator/electronic key fob/padlock size. This load is the limit for my LOCK48. It will still fully retract and "get stuck," but only *about* 1-2 ounces of tension will hold it in place. A vigorous, rhythmic motion (hip/buttock rebound) causes the button set to "dial" the keys 3-4 inches from the fully retracted position. This can be mitigated by wearing your keys on a 3/9 o'clock strap, unfortunately…

Pros
  • Stainless steel spring in a tough 2" polycarbonate case
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
