🚧 KidCo GY Spindle (1 pack) Pressure Gate Install Aid Review

I have a summer gate that this has worked with. It was extremely difficult to slide into the opening on the gate but once inserted and installed I had no problems. In general this is a good product. The second one that came with it I will give to my mom to use at home!

This product was the perfect solution for our staircase. We have a metal handrail on one side and this weird wooden wall on the other side - neither of which are suitable for screwable children's gates or normal pressure gates. These spindles allowed us to securely mount the sliding gate onto our square spindle (terminology?).

I'm sure this will work if you have the right spindles. Everything is fine from above, we have a round spindle. However, we have a rectangular block below that didn't fit in any way. Also, you need two, which isn't very clearly stated. We ended up buying a gate with ties on one side and drilling it into the wall on the other side. The product itself is easy to use and as long as you have the right spindles you should be fine.

You do the job! This is an integral part of any gate installation where you have balusters/spindles on one or both sides. We used one of these at the top of the gate on each side. The "flat" rubber bumpers that came with the gate worked great on the underside as they sat on a flat surface. So a set of 2 "Y" adapters did the trick. We actually used them on a Regalo gate, slightly enlarged the original Regalo holes (they come with a smaller diameter screw than KidCo) - and it worked great.

We have a two story house with railings and metal bars. We needed a gate to keep the dogs in the driveway on muddy days, but the gate was shallow. Those Y spindles worked great. We needed two sets because we had two gates with an outside wall and an inside railing. You have to keep in mind that this pack comes with two Y spindles, so it's enough to make one side of the gate. Perfect for pounding our little pup. We wanted to leave it on the first floor of our house so we bought two gates, one for the stairs leading to the second floor and the other for the stairs leading to our basement. I had to saw off the extension to the perfect length on the set that went into our basement as the rat terrier was able to fit through the gap left on the rim when we only used the length of the screw to fit the gate. We ordered a spindle accessory for one side of our upstairs gate.

I was furious to discover that this spindle doesn't work with all gates (it says on the box but not in the product description here). The spindle is too big to fit in the gate. However, this can be bypassed. There is a rubber buffer at the point where the spindle is inserted into the gate. This bumper can be pulled out of the gate with a butter knife. Matches well with Northgate Industries gate. I was tearing my hair out trying to figure out a way to use the baby gates my first child and I had before we even had stairs.
