Kidde Hardwired Smoke Alarm with Battery Backup & Interconnect, Pack of 6 - Test-Silence Button Review

Bought 3 months ago to replace a broken machine that had been used for 2 years. To avoid installation problems, I bought the same brand and model. Now just 3 months later this one has gone insane and set off a continuous alarm at 2:30am waking up the whole family. There was no smoke or any other chemistry. I will never buy this brand again.

Product as advertised but I was a bit confused as it was packaged in brown paper with instructions and then in a padded envelope. Call me crazy but I was expecting it to be factory sealed. However, there is no indication that this is a used device - the activation strip (which activates the battery) is intact and the manufacturing date is March 2021.

My wife threatened me that we would not replace our 20 year old smoke alarms. Then I realized (after much hesitation, as befits husbands) that our daughter's cooking had long since ceased to concern us. So I broke down and replaced the blocks. Of course, we "TESTED” her the very next day with her cooking. I think I should have listened to them sooner and replaced them. Be sure to buy these. Jokes aside, make sure your devices are working properly. Save the lives of those you love!

Bought 7 of these less than a year ago to replace the original Kidde smoke alarms I had at home. I only replaced my old ones because they were about 15 years old (no previous editions). I only had problems with the new ones. I've had 5 out of 7 false positives and have vacuumed them multiple times. I would like to give them 0 stars. I had an older version of this one that had reached its 10 year lifespan and needed to be replaced. I actually only bought this version because I knew it would have the same connectors, which would be easier to replace than another model or brand. Inserting the battery down is NONE! To change the battery, you have to remove everything from the ceiling mount and the battery cover on both models is very difficult for me to open.
