Horrible Carbon Filament - Waste of Money

This filament was a disaster for my 3D printing project. The material was difficult to work with and required excessive tweaking of my settings. It produced a very rough and grainy finish that was difficult to sand down. On the plus side, the filament arrived quickly. But the negatives outweighed any positives. I will stick to other brands for my 3D printing needs.

Pros
  • Quick delivery
Cons
  • Grainy finish, difficult to work with.

Shrink but not vacuum packed

This is a spool of PLA filament for 3D printing. The spool holds 750g which is a little less than the full 1kg spools I usually buy. The fiber is PLA (polylactic acid) and has a diameter of 1.75 mm. It comes from industrial waste and is therefore a little more environmentally friendly than normal PLA. The coil is shrunk but not sealed with a desiccant bag inside. I find this fiber to be fairly easy to work with. In general I like PLA as it usually stinks less than other filament types and makes

Pros
  • 3D Printing Filament
Cons
  • Obsolete

Likes it Hot: 3D Printing Consumables

It seems like regular PLA in every way, except for the fact that it requires slightly higher hot-end temperatures than I'm used to. Although the makeshift tower was at 195, the bottom of the die showing heavy extrusion was at 205. From now on I'm using 210-215, which is a good 10 degrees above my usual. Also, it worked as expected with my default PLA settings. This arrived in much thinner packaging than I usually see and so as you might expect the vacuum packaging was broken. I wasn't in theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • 3D Printing Consumables
Cons
  • Not as thick as other materials
