Great RAM but does not work on HP z420 workstations.

I'm sure the RAM is ok but it doesn't work on my HP z420 Workstation with Xeon E5-1620 3.60GHz (Sandy Bridge). If you want to use 16GB DIMMs on this motherboard, you must use Registered DIMMs (RDIMMs) and not Unbuffered DIMMs (UDIMMs). For modules of 8GB or less, the motherboard uses UDIMMs. To be honest the motherboard manual says you can only use DIMMs up to 8GB (for a system up to 64GB). However, I upgraded my z420 to 128GB using eight 16GB ECCs and registered Samsung M393B2G70DB0-YK0 DIMMs.

Good reliable memory

Relatively cheap and high density, no problems installing with AMD Opteron 6328 and ASUS dual socket mobile device, worked first time.

Pros
  • Rugged design
Cons
  • Damaged

Worked great on my HP Z620 Workstation

Smaller memory modules had to be removed. And with just one memory card. The system has not complained about the type of memory and works perfectly.

Pros
  • Sturdy build
Cons
  • Negative present

Works as well as OEM but more economical

These chips are advertised as generic devices with the same performance as 'branded' devices but without the higher price. Based on their performance on our Dell PowerEdge servers, I tend to agree. No issues, no bugs, no crashes, just a buzz as it should be.

Pros
  • Good value for money
Cons
  • Fragile

Memory used in Cisco servers

My company added them to Cisco VMware host servers (especially the UCS-C22) and they work great. What a deal compared to Cisco branded memory that costs over $300 for a memory card. Crazy. The seller answered questions about compatibility immediately.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • old
