I LOVE this film best in film photography

This film has a wide dynamic range and is very forgiving of misexposure. I only use Porta 400+160 for my color photography in daylight. At night I use Cinestill 800T.

Pros
  • Good processing
Cons
  • Good but not great

Favorite universal movie

My favorite movie (along with Portra 160). Not too hard which I prefer when I don't feel like editing the post. Follow the pics on Instagram (I always mention which film I use) "415Sean"

Reliable movie. for camera and photo

Remarkable, reliable film. I am new to film photography and was amazed by the ease of use of this particular brand as well as the quality of the images it produces. Definitely a great product especially if you are a beginner.

Film 400 ISO in Camera & Photo

grit is great for 400 grit film. Back to film photography, I went with a company I understood. I used an ASA 400 TriX in the late 60's to work on dinosaur prints for the school I attended. Great in low light as I don't like flash/assist light outside of the studio.

Pros
  • Nicely
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Universal Film C-41 for Ambient Lighting

This is an exceptional C-41 color film with extremely fine grain. At ISO 400 it's a great speed to "walk around" compared to 160. I usually find the Ektar a bit lighter and the Portra more neutral. I photograph this medium format 120 with my old Rolleiflex 3.5f, edit it in the photo studio and then scan it on my v600 tablet. Unfortunately, this film seems to be getting more and more expensive. And more and more often I find it sold out at Revain. Check out the uploaded images for reference.

What can I say? on film

This film has almost 1000 reviews. what could i add Nothing new. But here's my criticism anyway: The film is excellent. It has the perfect amount of grit, amazing colors and comes out easily with the 2 bath process. This film is the first time I have developed my own film; and it was very easy to follow the instructions. So if you're worried about your film going bad because you've never developed it before, don't worry about it. This film is easy to work with and shows easily.

Pros
  • looking forward to it
Cons
  • flimsy

Great film but the frame numbers on the back are blurry.

I use 120 film in my pinhole cameras and used Ektar 100 for a while. I wanted to work indoors so I bought a 5 pack of Portra 400. It's great except for one area. The picture numbering on the paper roll is quite obtuse. This can cause some fogging, but since I do fog up a little anyway, it's hard to tell. Either way, I have to use my iPhone flashlight to see the numbers when I'm promoting a movie. My ectar is good to see and I've used 3 packs of 5 so far. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars.

Always great film

Kodak Portra is my favorite color film. It's almost impossible to get the exposure wrong, it has a very wide range (I'm not even sure how wide, it's very hard to get an unusable shot out of it), the grain is incredibly smooth and the color reproduction is Perfect . I have shot every color negative and slide made today and I love Portra more than any other, including Kodak's own Ektar. I can't say anything bad about this movie. Mamiya RB67 played through and professionally edited. I have neverโ€ฆ

Great film - great results

I have a Holga camera and have been doing some fun experiments with my graphics team. We've all used Holgis and different types of film. When my photos arrived people were very impressed with their color and tone. So the film definitely stood up to Holga's randomness and did a great job in different lighting conditions. I was on a trip to Cozumel, to the Mayan ruins, so there was light and shadow, different color combinations, and subtle things like a gray lizard on a gray rock. The filmโ€ฆ
