Premium Stainless Steel Julienne Peeler by Kuhn Rikon - Includes Blade Protector and Durable Handle Review

Worked great the first few uses and saved time when I was making an Asian salad with green papaya. However, after four uses, the serrated blade seemed to detach from the slicer blade and didn't cut all the way through. I ended up with thin broccoli leaves with lines that the serrated blade didn't cut through. I had to use a knife to cut the broccoli into strands. If I could do it again I wouldn't buy this expensive device but I would buy a much cheaper vegetable julienner.

I was looking for an alternative to the traditional julienner for chopping tougher root vegetables (e.g. Asian radish). Well, first touches worked fine, but then it quickly got stuck and I couldn't get it off without cleaning it. As a result, cooking julienne with this device required more effort and more time. It's reliable and easy to use so it's worth the extra cost. I mainly use it to make thin long strips of carrots and this cutter works great. It's not very easy to clean, but that has to do with the nature of the cleaners themselves, not this particular product. I absolutely LOVE my Kuhn Rikon garlic press so buying a straw peeler was a no brainer for me. Buy their peeler. And so I bought one about a year ago and used it happily with no problems. I was recently offered a review copy of the Pridebit Julienne Cleaner. There are a number of cleaners like Pridebit that look the same (just find a straw cleaner and check out all the clones). Having used both now there doesn't seem to be much of a difference and therefore no real reason to pay more for a Kuhn
