Great tool, wish I had had this many years ago.

Works great. I think if you're looking at this you should buy it. The handle and lever work by squeezing them together to hold the wood. And to open it, the trunk opens the handle and falls out. However, if you don't already have a log in the grapple and want to open the grapple, it's a bit awkward as the lever to open it isn't spring-loaded, requiring you to perform a special acrobatic finger movement to hold the grapple. handle and open the gripper lever at the same time. BUT don't let thatโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • No form required

Well-made, efficient and inexpensive wood burning tool.

I like it so much I bought several so I have one at home, our mountain vacation home and our RV. I laugh when I read reviews of how hard it is. IMO it's pretty light considering it can grab large chunks of firewood. It is not spring loaded and not designed to be, so there is no spring. Although, as described in another review, adding a spring isn't difficult. I don't find the spring very necessary and I like the tool as it comes. I had my first one about three years ago and it's in perfectโ€ฆ

Great tool for your money!

I read the reviews about this and since we lost our fireplace poker I decided to give it a try. For the money I think it will be ok. Haven't used it in live fire yet but tested it on picking up some logs. I was surprised when some reviewers complained about the need for two hands. A few thoughts on that. When lifting/moving a larger log you will need two hands just because of the angle you are reaching towards the chimney and the force required to lift it vertically. I think if you are using it

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Something different

So far, so good. in travel accessory

I haven't had a chance to use this to move logs around my fire pit, but will update this review with more information after giving it some good campfire uses. My first impressions positive. It's not the heaviest or strongest fireplace tool I've seen, but it's made better than I expected for the price I paid. The main pole is a hollow tube to which all other metal parts are attached by welding or bolts. The rubber grip can be easily removed from the top. I'll probably take it off, spray some 3Mโ€ฆ
