The lip doesn't work for my laptop unless I press the keyboard with my palms. It's a shame because using the computer was the main thing I was hoping to use it for. Still works for books so I used it while reading. "Pockets" are good for holding your phone upright, but I have a small android so this may not work for you.

Bought for my 9 year old daughter for 'home school' during the COVID-19 pandemic She loves this little desk. He holds our laptop when she needs to do schoolwork on the laptop. She uses it to "hold" her Kindle and iPad. She also uses it for writing and drawing. She looks forward to trying it out in the car on long journeys. sometime in the future. This laptop desk is perfect for my needs. It sits comfortably on my lap and my laptop (a 13 inch Dell) fits in really well. The surface can be an issue for holding tablets (they can slip easily), but unlike other lap tables I've looked at, this one has some sort of guard on the bottom to prevent books, iPads, etc. slide down. It fits my 17" MacBook Pro perfectly with some room on the sides, I bought two. I find them sturdy, made of thick molded plastic, and the cushions underneath are very comfortable.
