A must have if you want to make real ice cream

This is for home cooks only - if you're even slightly serious about making good ice cream at home this is a must. I've tried all types of ice cream makers, a few years ago I decided I wanted one with a compressor that didn't require freezing because I thought it would make real ice cream (DeLonghi GM6000) and so far it hasn't quite so had the right texture. Due to home quarantine, my daughter and I decided to start making ice cream again and we succeeded. Hell, the first batch we made not only…

Spare parts can be hard to come by

I like this machine and even as a beginner I can try some professional stuff here. The downside is that the blade on this machine is very tight, making it difficult to remove for cleaning. It has to be removed for a thorough cleaning. I have to use pliers and a tissue to loosen the nut and even then it is very tight and I have to ask my husband. I suspect the gasket is missing. However, there doesn't seem to be a number to contact this company to have this part replaced. Edit after years of…

Great ice quality! Don't let the built-in mixing bowl put you off.

I bought a Lello 5030 as an upgrade for a 30 year old Gaggia Gelatiera that is still running. I almost overlooked the 5030 because it doesn't have a removable mixing bowl. I'm glad I didn't. Stainless steel block including dashboard. The mixing bowl "scoops" out of the device so that no ice can seep between the bowl and the surrounding stainless steel. Model 5030 produces up to 2 liters of ice cream in about 20 minutes. In the two months that I have owned this machine I have made ice cream…

They're pretty close. So that's the only reason why more is needed.

Some say the thing is too expensive. but compared to the $15,000+ commercial batch freezers used by almost every ice cream shop that makes their own ice cream, $1,200 is a steal! One of the makers of these floor models makes benchtop units that produce six liters per batch, but even such a unit costs over $4,000. These more powerful devices freeze the product faster, which is a major benefit when making ice cream because the faster it freezes, the smaller the ice crystals, making the product…

upset. for kitchen and dining room

From my experience I don't know what the rave reviews are about. Maybe my machine is broken or the conditions in which we work are so different that the result is incomparable. I'm using this in July in Southern California (90+ degrees Fahrenheit outside, just under 80 degrees Fahrenheit inside) at about 1000 feet above sea level just to give anyone reading an idea of the launch conditions. I found the mix icier than the result I got from the Wilfa Vanilje ($200-$300 machine), albeit in a…

Commercial quality comparable to Emery Thompson

A little background about me: I'm an engineer and am currently looking to start an ice cream shop so I know a lot about ice cream and equipment. I purchased a Lello Musso Pola 5030 as an ice testing machine specifically used for testing small batches up to 2 quarts. I have an Emery Thompson CB-350 ($10,000) and a Breville Smart Scoop Ice Cream Maker ($399). The CB-350 is a full commercial ice maker that I use to make a lot of ice cream. I would use this machine to do test batches but it's too…
