Leviton 40249-W White Standard Telephone Wall Jack, 6P4C with Screw Terminals Review

Believe it or not, I've had trouble finding anything at my local store. I finally realized it shouldn't be that difficult. Stores simply don't want to take up shelf space for low-volume products. It was a good find on Amazon.

So everything is fine with them. One thing I would change is that most of these outlets have the wires color coded inside (red, green, yellow, black) so you know where to connect the wires. Instead, this bushing has the letters (R, G, Y, B) printed on the plastic next to each screw. It works but the letters are just bulges on the plastic and are a little hard to see and I would have preferred colored wires.

While making a regular phone jack might seem easy enough, Leviton put a little more effort into the 40249-W. The socket itself seems simple enough from the outside, and it is. What sets this outlet apart is the documentation that comes with it. The documentation is a simple schematic that tells you which wire color goes where. This may be unnecessary for most people installing such devices as part of their job, but for the weekend warrior or someone not feeling very comfortable, the chart saves
