Description of πŸ”³ Leviton 88605 2-Gang 1-Toggle 1-Decora/GFCI Combination Wallplate, Oversized, Thermoset, Device Mount, White

Oversized wallplates are used to conceal greater wall irregularities than those hidden by Midway wallplates. Oversized wallplates are a full 0.75" higher and wider than standard size wallplates. Smooth face and rounded edges resist dust accumulation. Designed for high dielectric strength and arc resistance. Resistant to fading, discoloration, grease, oil, organic solvents and moisture scratches.

Poor edges and wrong color screws

Very overpriced but as I couldn't find this size locally I had no choice. I would agree with the inflated prices except for the chipped, jagged edges that look cheap and sloppy. Worse, the panel is gleaming white and the included screws look almond-colored. It's also very flat, so if your box protrudes even a little from the wall, it won't sit flush.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Pretty ok

Big size. Thick and hard, do not overtighten the screws.

This is an oversized panel cover that is larger than the standard cover. Oversized lids work well for junction boxes that have too much flagstone cut around them. Oversized helps fill in those gaps. In addition, the large covers look beautiful. The shell is thick and hard. Be careful not to overtighten the screws or the cover may crack. This is not a "shatterproof" coating.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Protection

Great for hiding poor quality drywall cuts

The drywall crew that cuts out outlets and switches never cuts the cuts as cleanly and carefully as we'd like. Our switch covers did not completely hide all of the cuts and there are spots around the panel where you can see the jagged edges of the cut drywall. Replacing our covers with these oversized ones was the perfect solution. They fit perfectly and provide enough overlap to hide drywall cut imperfections. Ease of installation.

Slightly wider to hide messy drywall holes

I replaced the outlet next to the sink with a GFI a while back as it seemed safer. The outlet was right next to the recycling counter. On a new install I needed a panel like this and just picked up a random white panel from Home Depot, only to find later that the original drywall installation was pretty sloppy leaving large gaps around the electrical box. The original plate was apparently too big, but my new one wasn't. After some searching on Revain I found this one which (mostly) fills in…

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Weight

I've used literally thousands of Leviton wiring tools over the years and the panels in their plus size range are no exception because they really cover where rocker is a little zip- get carried away by tools! Unfortunately, Leviton has changed for the worse. The screws supplied with the plate do not fit properly in the countersink and are sticking out of the surface more than they should for a proper fit. I used a countersink to widen the mortise slightly, but that's something Leviton's quality

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • There are downsides
