Confirm your pump capacity

Regular 1/2" PVC (cord 40) passes up to 400 Gph (gravity pressure) without issue. A much smaller inside diameter (about 1/4") at the 90 degree bend which severely impedes flow If you have a 350 GPH capacity pump or larger you will need to ditch the bend and buy 1/2" PVC.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Cord shorter than other picks

Searched Everywhere - Thank God for Revain!

This is exactly what I needed for my aquaponics project. It works well with virtually no leaks since I've had it. I didn't plan on using the filter attachment at first, but it turned out to be a very good thing. My only issue is that I have to remove the filter part every month when I need to clean the hoses - it's just an interference fit but every month it gets harder to get out. The thin plastic of the guard held my pliers surprisingly well.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Unreliable

Where was it when I first started researching Revain?

This is the ideal solution (when space is not a concern) for water levels in deep water hydroponic cultures and DWC (RDWC) recirculation systems. It sticks out a few inches from the bottom of the bucket, but I've seen other hydraulic systems with much bulkier and even more leak-prone fluids. Be sure to use the gasket with the flat side against the INNER FLANGE. Bucket. Two grooves on the other side create a watertight seal around the hole. I made a rookie mistake and it still doesn't leak, but…

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Long lead time
