Good quality for DVD recorders

I received an updated version of this DVD+ recorder's gateway when it went on sale. I have a Panasonic DVD-R recorder which is much better: better picture quality, better reliability and better user interface. Also, DVD-Minus discs are much more compatible with DVD players than DVD-Plus discs, although a new player shouldn't have any problems with either format. The real problem with Lite-On/Gateway is the build quality. . The player feels cheap and tends to get hot, some reviewers have pointed

Great product, great price!

I just bought the LVW-5001 by mail order for $199 and can't say enough good things about this DVD recorder. Set up was easy and the sharp and clear picture is amazing. That puts my other famous DVD player brand to shame! The "Guider" function makes formatting and finalizing DVD extremely easy. Another nice feature is the front audio/video inputs, which make it much easier to connect a VCR, camcorder, etc. compared to other models with rear connections. And I agree with previous reviews praising

  • Lots of positive emotions

  • A questionable purchase for the elderly

Not ready for prime time

When I saw this DVD burner for sale I was amazed that prices fell so quickly but after 30 days of ownership my only regret is that it wasn't less impulsive. Everything went well at first, the recording quality on HQ, SP and even EP is not bad. I've noticed a number of artifacts with fast screen transitions or time-lapses, but compared to VHS recordings, the colors are much richer, the edges are sharper, and one of the most pleasant surprises is the ability to skip ahead at different speeds to…

Not a bad recorder if you can keep it cool

I like this recorder but it tends to overheat if not in a well ventilated area. At one point the unit got so hot it literally burned one of my DVDs (DVD+RW), rendering it unusable. Having installed a fan next to the recorder to keep it cool, there was no problem. Aside from the overheating issue, I'm really impressed with this thing. The picture quality is better than I expected and much better than a VHS recorder. I transferred some SVHSC camcorder footage to DVD, as well as some miniDV…

Incredible value. with a few quibbles, considering the price

Excellent price. Finally the DVD recorder replaces the VHS recorder for the price. Recording from analogue or digital (Firewire) devices. First, good. The DVD recorder works well. Automatic chapter marking. The TV tuner has an automatic search and a clear window function, where you can see the scanned channels in a window from the setup menu. Has progressive output even for TV signals. Many entrances. RCA in front, FireWire in front, S-Video in back. Has 16-9 and 4-3 sockets. 4 recording…
