I'm just getting started with matting and framing photos and artwork. I may need to upgrade to a more professional product in the future.

This system gives a straight cut, but sometimes I found the blade wouldn't penetrate the front of the cutting mat and I had to make multiple passes. It may just be a matter of practice, but the knurled ruler solved some of the problems I had previously had with the freehand jig.

A very useful kit. It takes time to learn how to use it and how to position the blade for the perfect cut. There is always a small margin of error, even after cutting multiple mats. overall I am satisfied with the product. Be sure to check the thickness of the carpet you plan to cut. I tried cutting the mat thicker and the blade couldn't go all the way through.

I have started a small art business and sometimes I need to cut or resize a rug I have bought and it works great! I'm new to matte cutting and didn't want to give it all and spend $100 just in case I didn't like it or couldn't learn, how to cut carpets I used someone else's larger cutter and it was a lot easier. I keep getting crooked carpets. You really have to hold onto all the pieces while pushing the blade through the mat and pulling hard. I teach myself so there could be a better way.
