This is a great tool to add to your hobby arsenal. The learning curve isn't great, but practice on a few scraps before moving on to your main parts for using the frame. It is quite well made, the base is plastic, the handle is metal, the parts of the cutting head are metal. Great tool. Makes professional cuts, giving you choice and flexibility. Forget the frame store. Suggestions: 1) Make 5-10 test cuts. 2) Make sure you are working in a well-lit area. 3) Using a soft sheet, make sure the tips under the base are fully in contact with the matte cardstock to be cut. Since it is so difficult to find an oval or round rug in my area, I thought it would be an unnatural act to create one. When I found an oval rug it cost almost three times as much as a rectangular rug. This item is a bit difficult at the beginning, but the first carpet is almost perfect.
