After buying two M7 series mice** I only went back to this old mouse because the scroll wheel function is so much better than the new faster scroll wheel concept. The problem with newer mice is the lack of a ratchet breakpoint, so the scroll wheel never feels under control and actually keeps scrolling from time to time when I've switched apps, so I typed the app like I was prompting it to scroll. I bought two M510 mice to have a backup in case one of them fails in the future. I really like this

This is the second mouse of this model that I have bought, although the first model I bought about four years ago uses a real IR laser compared to this newer model, the accurate IR light emitting diode. Backlight tracking LED. Still very accurate on many surfaces compared to standard optical mice. Battery life is great. The mouse has a power saving feature that turns on after about a minute of inactivity. I had a set of AA batteries in the first mouse I bought for the last two and a half years.

Logitech has succeeded in this design. I love this mouse for its size, portability, price and versatility! Download the Logitech app and you can customize the buttons to your liking. If I had one complaint, the mouse wheel click button would wear out over time, but I often use this button to rotate models in SolidWorks. I've had enough of these for at least 2 years even if I use them 5 days a week for 8+ hours a day. At this price it's hard to beat!

I was looking for a replacement and decided to save a few dollars and risk buying a refurbished model. I figured if it didn't work the consequences and costs wouldn't be catastrophic. I received the mouse very quickly and it works very well, maybe even a little smoother and faster than the corresponding original mouse of the same model. My experience so far has been great. I would definitely try the updated item again.

The Logitech M510 mouse is the only mouse I will buy. It fits perfectly in my hand and is comfortable to wear even for long periods of time.
