🔌 Mean Well LRS-200-12 Switching Power Supply, Single Output, 12V, 17A, 200W, Compact Size: 8.5 x 4.5 x 1.2 inches Review

Received this as an upgrade for my Monoprice Mini 3D printer. It works great and I can now use the Maxmius printer and 4th Demensions heaters.

You're paying for the Mean Well brand for a reason. You can get other brands that give you more amperage for less money, but this is a more compact product (for the same amperage) and better finished.

Before you start, be sure to check the 110/220V switch on the side and select the correct voltage. Seems to work great and delivers stable 12V.

These are good power supplies. I've never had any problems with Mean Well power supplies. I have a few set up outdoors in waterproof boxes which power my landscape bays and deck lights. They do not overheat and work quietly.

I bought this to replace a larger PSU with a fan. This is the largest I could find without a fan. I am running a 400w subwoofer and was concerned that this 200w unit would not be powerful enough. That. No burned circuits, distortion, clipping or anything like that.

I haven't run it in a long time, but I use it to power the stepper motor and its Arduino controller. My voltmeter reads 12.0 volts, which is exactly what I paid for. It seems to have no problem handling the high current pulses caused by the stepper motor when powered by the Arduino.

These inexpensive 100 W amplifiers with energy reserves; I get more than enough volume from speakers over 100W. You'll need to remember to set the slider on the side to 120V if you're in the States. They're quiet and the LED indicator isn't too bright. Decent connection quality. So far, so good.

**Update 04/20/20* It's been 6 years and this power supply is still great! I've never had a single problem with it and the lack of a fan is the best part because it runs silently. I originally bought a cheaper Chinese PSU that had a fan that would grow and shrink depending on the load. Very annoying. As it is used to power the LED strips in my bedroom, noise is a big deal to me. I've heard a lot of good things about the Mean Well name, but thought I was unlucky to find a 200W fanless PSU until…
