You will need a hacksaw or other tool to make clean cuts in aluminum a metal file to smooth out the sharp edges to remove the cutting and sharp knife for cutting the seal. If the seal is tight against the door sill, silicone spray will help the door open and close. Be careful when cutting and handling as it is just painted aluminum and if you scratch it the light aluminum will show through the dark colour. The hacksaw is crucial as you will need to cut it to fit the door and also cut the front…

Silver inside, Flake finish

I replaced my existing front door brush/seal with this product. Other brushes of this width fit my door perfectly. This was free but usable. I ended up using painters tape to secure it while I marked the holes to drill. The height of the metal was slightly less than advertised. Unfortunately the builder messed up our door after installing the original molding and it doesn't quite cover the unpainted portion. I specifically ordered this product to get high enough, but it didn't work as intended.

Pros
  • Improve your home's energy efficiency
Cons
  • Big and bulky

To be honest I've never had a door seal, I've lived with a door for over 10 years that had a 1/4 inch gap at the bottom letting in wind, dirt and water hoses. I have an old wooden front door, I don't think it ever had anything to protect it from bad…

  • U shaped door base

NO thermal separation? Suitable for thresholds

This door seal is very well made. The item is 36" long anodized aluminum and MUST be cut to size if you have a door other than the exact 36" which is a lot. If you don't have the tools or the skills required, you should probably opt for one of the cheap plastic replacement parts - this item is designed and built to last a lifetime, but it does require SOME DIY skills to install properly . For example, those who complain about the rubber strips breaking on the block do not seem to understand the
