I'm not a welder but I DEFINITELY ran into the fact that I could use these pliers! I have the regular straight ones but with U split/double clamps on the end and a 1.25" excess to get in/around the L bracket or angle iron strips?!? YUP! They look like well made pliers. The rivets that hold the joints together are strong and tight with very little side play in them - the clamp ends move only 1/8 inch from side to side. On a scale of ten one of all the pliers on the market, especially in the "alternatives to well-known brands" price range this is the right seven. The moving parts have a bit more play than the most well-known manufacturers, adjustment isn't as smooth and the look and finish right down to the rivets just aren't what a top-of-the-line tool should be.
