Actually not bad.

Most player issues should be resolved. I had no problems other than having to set the resolution in the DVD player to Widescreen 16X9 (I just had to read the instructions as the preset is 4:3 which results in a stretched look which I found fault with another reviewer) . Also compared to my previous regular DVD player there is definitely a noticeable difference between the two (it has much smoother lines and no bumps like my old one) for my HDTV. For the price unbeatable! In general, I recommend

Great upscaling player for $50

I'm surprised at the negative reviews. Once I've properly set this player up for the 37" 1080p LCD TV it's connected to (via HDMI), the picture is great and the player works flawlessly. It's a very basic turntable but it does its job very well in our bedroom and it's great value for the price I paid for it. I can't think of any complaints other than maybe they should output 16:9 by default instead of 4:3 as it's sold as an HDMI player and I think most people who buy it will have a wide screen…

Learning Curve - TV & Video

There is a learning curve with this product. As with all DVD players, you should adjust the settings to your liking. The price of this player and the quality I get from it is amazing. I have to agree with the reviewer who said he needs to tweak it to get the best results. my tv only shows up to 1080i but the quality is not very good. that's because it's interlaced and I'm used to scanning. so i get the best picture in 720p. so play around with the settings and you'll be happy with the price…

HDMI not suitable for TV and video

Wish these reviews were here when I first considered buying this junk from Sam. I bought it to use my new TV's HDMI inputs and improve the quality of my existing DVDs. The HDMI output only worked once in about 30-40 attempts, the remote control is awful and the device is often unresponsive. I had to unplug and plug the device back in twice to eventually get my DVD back (device stuck). I finally got through to customer service and after describing the problem the guy immediately told me to…

DVD player won't turn on

I recently bought this $50 DVD player from Sam's Club to use with my new Vizio HD TV. I made the mistake of not reading the reviews before receiving them and now I'm paying for it. I got home and immediately plugged in the DVD player. He had an outstanding image, don't get me wrong; However, as another reviewer said, I had to turn up the volume on the TV to match the volume the cable (or whatever medium) was delivering. That was the beginning of my problems. About a week later, my son watched…
