Klein Tools ET10 Magnetic Digital Pocket Thermometer: Accurate and Portable for Temperature Monitoring - Orange Review

This is a decent thermometer but it differs from the old one because the old one had an issue where the pocket clip was holding the battery and it kept falling out but now they have that solved problem by screwing in their yeppppppy screw.

pocket clip fell off and got lost on the first day of use, I ordered a second non-magnetic version, slightly smaller and same result, great thermometer but be careful with the clip , it holds the batteries and with the Ground turning spring shoots it out, so if it's in your pocket and you're sitting or lying down, it's not there, keep it in your tool bag or go get it.

I don't understand how it can sometimes show 2 degrees off. It reads accurately for a minute, and the next time I use it, it's off 2 degrees. Although I like all the features. The magnet could be stronger on the back. It only sticks when you're still in the vent, it doesn't stick to the surface of the vent on the air filter. I think most reviews don't have any other theometer to compare it to. I love Klein but will not buy this product again.

Great design but temperature adjustment takes forever. I have other thermometers that acclimate in seconds. This thermometer is accurate if you stand and wait 10-15 mins, but when an HVAC service customer is paying $80 an hour for your time, the last thing they want to see is you just standing there. I wouldn't use other thermometers if they adjusted to temperature quicker because the design is perfect, but time is money.

I bought this to service an AC split unit. I was glad to see that Klein addressed the main complaint I saw in the reviews about the batteries dropping. There is now a small screw that needs to be removed before you can access the batteries. I thought that was the only problem. When I then checked the ambient temperature, I found that it was anything but normal. It arrived, I removed the plastic that prevents the battery from touching and . Nothing. I took off the batteries. Cleaned up what looked like corrosion, put the batteries back in and voila. It works out. There was another review that said the clip fell off. The clamp on this device is held in place with a screw. Does not rotate to remove. The product works great and has given me a sense of the different room temperatures in my house, especially when checking the accuracy of my house thermostat. The backlight is nice and the functions are easy to use. I used it one night to check the ambient temperature in my bedroom, accidentally fell asleep with auto-off disabled, and when I woke up it was still rocking! This would be the best thermometer I have ever used. As a home inspector, I need quality tools with great features to make my job more efficient. The magnetic front is practical. The cover slides open at the back and turns into a small extension to make it easier for me to get to the vents. The backlight is handy so I don't have to pull out the flashlight in darker places.
