Description of πŸ’ͺ Maximize Efficiency with the Malco FCMS 5 Inch Exposure Overlap

Allows for easy and accurate 1-person siding installations. The gauge acts like an extra pair of hands to prop up one end of the plank. Set includes 1 facing gauge and 1 overlap gauge. Durable nylon facing gauge adjusts to 5, 6, 7, and 8-inch exposures without tools. No adjustments to vary and nothing to mark. Will not mar finish of pre-painted siding. Made in the USA.

Very nice, just what I was looking for

Pretty good for one person work, but likes to jump at times out, but I figured it out. Insert a nail into the board on one side to secure it, then fasten the other end, then go back and remove the nail and adjust the gap. Would buy again

Pros
  • Sturdy nylon meter, adjustable to 5", 6, 7 and 8" exposures without tools
Cons
  • Large and bulky

Makes parking so much easier

This product is so simple there's nothing to say but buy it! This greatly simplifies and speeds up the installation of siding. With a couple of these overlap sensors, I was able to install an entire wall covering myself, whereas if I didn't have it I would have had to hire someone to help me. If you don't have any obstacles to overcome (crane latticework, electrical hook-up, multiple windows, etc.), you'll be amazed at how quickly you can install board siding with this jig set. It takes a few…

Pros
  • Jig doubles as an extra pair of arms to support one end of the board
Cons
  • New Competitors Arrive

Cozy? Yes! Ideal? No.

Without a doubt, as others have said, these sensors are very useful when hanging sidewalls alone or with help. And if you know their shortcomings in advance, they will not stop you. In fact, they are easy to bypass. So what are their shortcomings? Good. The metal sensor "measures" the top of the board and the red plastic sensor "measures" the bottom. To get perfect alignment, you need both jigs AND siding to be perfectly aligned for every detail. This can never happen for the following reasons.

Pros
  • Will not damage the surface of pre-painted sidewalls
Cons
  • Creases a little
