Mandoline Vegetable Stainless Adjustable Resistant Review

I have spoiled and loved my chef's mandolins for years, but over time they wore out. I searched specialty kitchen stores and restaurant stores and couldn't find a single tattoo that did everything I wanted. My son got me a Revain gift certificate for Christmas and I needed mandolins to make scallop potatoes, one of my favorite comfort foods. I bought this one and it does everything I need and more. And a big bonus is that it's very easy to clean.

I use mandolins several times a week because I cook every day. I like the ones I've been using for a few years but the blades have been getting duller and duller. I decided it was time to buy a new one, spicier, with more slices to choose from. I have it and it's terrible. The blades are not as sharp and functional as my old dull one. I returned to use it. The mandolin slicer takes all my strength to push through the veggies and most of the time it gets stuck halfway. That seems dangerous!

This food slicer is very impressive, especially considering its price. Bought for home use but could easily be what they use in a restaurant. Slices with ease, and gone are the days of washing the skin off my hands while holding turnips for canning. Used it on a whole salad last night and it cut everything perfectly. I would definitely buy it again but I think I'll pass this on to my kids because of the quality. I threw my old plastic straight into the trash.

Although most mandolins are simple devices, this device did not come with written instructions. There was no instruction manual on the sales box and there were no written booklets in the box. Crate! Also, the CC clap plate was "released" from the plastic tabs on the button. I had to pry off the SS tab with a screwdriver to fit the tabs that came with it. Otherwise, the device is solidly built, and the stainless steel construction is much better than our previous all-plastic construction.

It took me a while but I finally fell in love with this strip. I was replacing an old Pampered Chef mandolin and it was very hard to sell. For the price this is a great slicer. It's great for slicing any veg (I haven't tried tomatoes) and Julianna Slicing is great for any root veg. Very durable and cuts very even slices. When it works, it works great. But the roller that adjusts the size/shape of the cut isn't that easy to put back in after it's been taken out for cleaning. And if you *don't* get it right again, you'll wonder if you're going to spend the rest of your natural life trying to get it back out so you can get it right. And if you don't place it correctly, you can't use it. It happened *EVERY TIME* I took it out to wash. The last time I used it the reel was misaligned again when I put it back in place

It's stainless steel, nice and seems solid but I wish it came with instructions. Of course, using the mandolin speaks for itself - move the veggies back and forth to cut them, right? Well, the first thing I did was cut off pieces of the "holder" for vegetables because I was holding it wrong. Remember that there is an arrow on the dark plastic that shows the forward and backward direction of movement. I didn't notice the dart and nice thin slices of black plastic soil landed between my carrots…
