The first one I received had to be opened about 1mm to zero. It was also shipped in soft packaging and was creased in shipping. I sent it back. Got a replacement very quickly which was also sent in soft packaging but was not damaged. When tested, metric and standard measurements do not match. Not so good.

This caliper is ideal for everyday use. Of course, this isn't a precision caliper for measuring to 0.001 inches, but it's spot on for a lot of things. I have a lot of fancy, expensive precision calipers, but I use plastic calipers to keep in the garage, shed, or car. for those trips to Home Depot. They are really comfortable and for the price you can't beat them. Don't be fooled by the cheaper ones that are made in China and sell for $5.00 for $7.95. It's garbage. This is vernier caliper, but not high precision. Where a "real" (metal, expensive) tool has a dial, this one has a plastic lip. Not a big deal, I knew that when I bought it. I only wanted an accuracy of 0.1mm and this offers at least that level. This is a good general purpose caliper for home and many workshops. This is not an expensive ultra precision tool (0.001mm).
