Marina Easy Clean Water Changer, 50ft Hose

A very useful tool for aquarists. Easy connection to my kitchen sink. I tried this on my 10 gallon tank to test it out. It works great but I wouldn't recommend it for smaller aquariums. It sucked water out at a very high rate, even after adjusting the flow. I don't know what the best minimum tank size is, but I bought it primarily for use in my new 55 gallon tank and flow is not an issue. The only thing is, of course, it takes longer with larger tanks, so be careful with your water bills. In…

  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • It's OK

Better than others!

Perfect for cleaning out my 75 gallon tank! It's easy to connect and nothing feels cheap. I even love the fact that the cleaning portion of the tube is a whopping 18 inches! As for the plug, I really like that it's made of brass instead of plastic. The tube is very thick, strong and doesn't even bend that easily. .Of course it bends, but it turned out not so easy as I first thought. The flow of water is smooth if you suck it and clean the tank with it. I think the price is very cheap…

Smother the Python!

This item is amazing. This is the second one I've bought. With 2 makes water changes even faster for 6 tanks. I first got this to replace a python that never vacuumed while the faucet was running. In addition, black mold has formed inside the tube, which cannot be cleaned even with boiling water. I had to get rid of him. But this stuff is great. After a year, nothing grows in the tube. The best stuff? I do not know. All I know is that the tube stays clean inside compared to Python…

Good! But it may not be what you expect

I have a 55 gallon tank and water changes can be difficult. These products help a lot, but they're not very effective when connected to a faucet. The adapter that came with the kit does not fit MY faucet although it may fit yours and the water flow is not practical at all. I have found that using it as a transfer system works just as well (if not better) and is much more practical. The hose is long enough to drain water directly into the sink. Filling the tank straight from the tap is by far…

Great product - still works great after many years

This is good for draining and filling tanks. I have four tanks, so changing the water is very quick. Tip: When scooping water from tanks, you can turn on the suction and then turn off the water in the sink to avoid wasting water and keep it draining. his own. I also had a Python system and I would say they are the same. I'm glad I bought the Marina version again and saved some money for something else. Updated: 12/30/15. This water changer still works reliably and without problems years later…

Pros
  • Beautiful
Cons
  • Nothing

As other reviewers have noted, the supplied plug squirts water all over the place - either I did it wrong (but no instructions) or it's poorly designed - either way it won't work for the consumer. I just replaced it with a $1 plug from the hardware store and now I have no problem. Others say it doesn't suck - it works if you make sure the hose is full of water before you start pumping. It's also been said that it doesn't stop when you turn off the trigger - that's true, unless it was turned off

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Weight

50 foot water heater. You may want to pump water from outside.

We recently moved to a larger aquarium and the thought of lugging buckets of water around for water changes seemed irksome. So we decided to buy a kettle. We chose this one because the adapter is brass and not plastic. After using the water changer a few times to drain the water, we decided to run the hose outside instead of connecting it to a faucet. I couldn't waste all that water on weekly water changes. Some reviewers claim that the water can be turned off once the runoff has started; it…

I couldn't live without it

I bought a 72 gallon aquarium a few months ago and have been doing weekly water changes using the bucket method. This changer is amazing and very easy to use. Now I can do a 15-20 percent water change in less than 10 minutes, including hooking up the unit to the kitchen faucet. going to hardware stores to find one that works (this process took longer than it should as the store clerks weren't that experienced. yeah, me neither. lol). I ended up having to buy 2 separate attachments for a total…
