The old ones are all brass and will not oxidize/oxidize to the point of being unusable in a marine environment. Either fake or just cheap version. I have used hundreds of these locks over the years. I own a construction company and spend it like candy. This one claims to be the same size and look as the ones I usually buy from stock, but it's a cheaper version. The combination wheel does not rotate well. I bought these gate lock padlocks for my garden to be always outside and exposed to inclement weather. All three locks are obviously oxidized, all three locks are hard to read/difficult to turn the wheel combo, and two of the three have to be hit pretty hard to lock them back once they've been opened. After about the third thunderstorm, one could say that this product is not intended for outdoor use, despite the product description. The numbers were very difficult to rotate and unlock due to the rust that developed. Having only had this lock for a few weeks it is very disappointing.
