Well finished but sticky

Very good working blocks but covered in sticky oil to prevent rust which was difficult to clean. I didn't want oil getting into the job I was using it on.

Pros
  • V blocks
Cons
  • Slightly dented

At first glance they look like block 123, but the unthreaded holes don't accept 3/8 screws, so you can't use them like block 123. Someone really messed it up when designing it. YouTube video search on Chinese 123 blocks. There is a very experienced machinist who explains why they are useless. Spent a lot of time and money on this, very disappointed. The steel is hardened so you can't fix mistakes, basically just a paperweight.

Pros
  • Check, measure and check
Cons
  • Little things

Value for money is reasonable. Dimensional accuracy is reasonable IF you thoroughly clean these blocks upon arrival. Otherwise, the thin, protective, very tacky, high-viscosity protective film used by the manufacturer when shipped will give inaccurate readings of 0.0005 to 0.0015. For us, these blocks had to be repeatedly cleaned. We cannot use them for our aerospace work and tolerances, although for general shop use and general handling these blocks are acceptable when used to determine…
