Cookware Melting Spatula

The rim of the spatula melts after cooking 3 times in a Matfer carbon steel pan. The plastic parts of the spatula end up in the food. This is not a safe product.

Fake or defective. at Kitchenware & Gadgets

Update: Downgraded from five to one star. It burned out and isn't even safe to use on my nonstick surfaces. I don't want to scratch them. I liked the shape, the flexibility and everything that other reviewers liked. I'm disappointed. I wonder if I caught a fake. I didn't see any of those negative reviews when I bought it.

Deceptive, inferior goods have been replaced with a pleasant thing

I ordered a slotted Matfer Bourgeat Exoglass spatula that I saw in a test kitchen in America and immediately realized that this spatula was too stiff and hard. Upon closer inspection of the packaging, I noticed that the real name of the product was taped over it. Someone tried to replace a cheaper Mercer branded product. I don't appreciate this deception. I will never order from this company again. Buyer Warning!

Cons
  • The list will be long.

This is a cool spatula but make your own tag/tag for it.

I love this spatula and have already reviewed it. I've been using it for many years. I've given 2 (or more) as gifts in the past and recently bought 5 more as gifts. The spatula now comes with a small sticker stating the maximum temperature resistance and composition. (See photo.) I created a unique Revain product description label for each spatula. I want every recipient to know it's safe and expect good results from it.

Good spatula for non-stick pans

We were looking for a new spatula for our non-stick pans. We chose this product based on a recommendation from Cook's Illustrated. It arrived with the edge of the head not perfectly smooth but still functional. The spatula is easy to use and good for cooking. However, we have found that it stains easily. After cooking with turmeric as a spice, a yellow stain remained on the gray spatula. We would have preferred this product to be available in black.

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Cord shorter than others

Not as described, cheaper fake

The first thing I ordered and paid for was a Matfer spatula about a year ago. What I got wasn't Matfer. I decided it wasn't big money so I went ahead and used it. I later ordered Matfer from another source and voila, it's actually labeled as Matfer. See photo for comparison. Matfer says it's made out of Exoglass, while the fake appears to be made out of nylon. The fake actually performed quite well, with a slight edge curl that I can correct with a sheet of fine sandpaper on a flat surface. I…

Not worth the hype, falls apart with light use.

I was so excited to get this for my kitchen. I love thin spatulas for flipping pancakes, but they often break after a month or so of use. I found this pen to be too heat resistant. Considering it's almost double the price of the ones I usually buy, I figured it must be worth the hype. Well, after 2 (yes, that is, TWO) uses, it looks like this. I'm not impressed and so don't feel comfortable continuing to use it for fear of plastic (or whatever they claim it's made of) ending up in my kids'…

Price vs. Durability

Like all comparison winners from America's Test Kitchen, the Matfer Bourgeat Exoglass Pelton Spatula has experienced grotesque price gouging. Despite the quirky-sounding "Exoglass" name and the "Made in France" label, there's something ATK never seems to mention: durability. The spatula is rated for temperatures no higher than 430 F. Is that reasonable? Most of the spatula is used in a pan where searing and frying are standard and temperatures are high. Everything ATK says about shape, angle…

Heat resistance is a joke!

I rarely write reviews but after using this spatula when making pancakes I was very disappointed. To my dismay, I discovered that the rotating part of this blade is actually metal covered in a thin layer of plastic-like material. How do I know? After making a batch of pancakes, I noticed that the material covering the front edge of the spatula had melted, exposing the metal underneath. After seeing this, I took a look at the non-stick pan I was using and noticed that the bare metal had peeled…
