Yes, they still release cassettes!

I had no idea they were even made and needed a voice recorder to help me with my work. I found a tape recorder that had been in my closet many years ago, looked for blank cassettes and found that they were still being made. Delivery was fast with Prime, just what I wanted. Also good for playing music or singing lessons so you can hear how you sound. My little grandson, who has everything, loved my tape recorder. He and I played radio stations like I did when I was a little girl, recording songs

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Not the best

for voice recording

My father, a WWII veteran, was interviewed by Hometown Heroes Radio so I have a recording of his voice so I can still hear it even though he died in 2017. a recording of my mother telling our family story so it won't be lost in the future + I will still have a recording of her voice to listen to after she is gone because I think when our loved one dies, Can we make us forget what they sound like? I wish I would have done this with my grandparents when they were still here. Of course I cry when…

Possibly the last mass market cassette - Records well

I still use cassettes to record vinyl albums for listening in rooms without a turntable. Yes, I could stream, but a lot of people think albums have a certain sound quality that's hard to beat, which is why I'm still recording analogue to analogue here in 2021. The cassettes were great, especially towards the end of the era around 2006, but Type IIs are no longer made and there are fewer and fewer new Type I tapes. These are the last to be made. Luckily, there are a few specialist manufacturers…

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • Compatibility

This is the best new tape you can get

Maxell is probably the last known reputable company still making cartridges (or at least putting their name on cartridges). If you want to record speech or music, they work perfectly. No player made today will be able to take advantage of a Type 2, 3 or 4 cassette, so you won't be missing out if you have a new cassette player. My player is 40 years old so I can say that with Dolby B on it sounds very good, better than you would expect. Positive: Maxell will still be releasing a good-sounding…
