Disappointed!: Wall Panels & Accessories

The switch/socket looks good but I must have gotten a broken one as the light switch worked fine but the socket didn't! If you plug in something, in this case a small rotary tool like a Dremel, and turn it on, the rotary tool doesn't turn on, but the light controlled by the switch is very dim. I installed it after the dreaded so-called install sheet. The second time I try to see if it was a defective switch or just a lousy instruction page.

decent hardware, lousy instructions

As others have pointed out, the instructions are crazy; look for a YouTube video on how to install a similar Leviton product. However there are no issues with quality or installation and you get 2 for the price of 1. I am using them in a switched outlet configuration to control plug in light strips under a cabinet in my kitchen - for this application I have them reversed installed the switch below so i can wire from the outlet above.

What a great idea with the wall panels

Love love love the convenience of having an outlet near the front door. I was so hoping this would all end, but according to my electrician there are two things you need to know. 1. off They weren't made "here". he said everything is reversed. also said that while they can be installed in place of a regular switch, YOU SHOULD NOT INSTALL THEM. unless that switch is pre-rigged with ground (or something like that). He told me that light switches don't turn on when there's too much electricity…
