Bought 3 of these as Christmas gifts for my young son and nephews. All three really enjoyed this puzzle! It was a great success. I'd rather buy them something similar, educational, than a useless toy they only play with a few times. Anything made by Melissa & Doug is a great product! I love her stuff. Bought this as a Christmas present for my niece (2 years old at the time). It was inexpensive and reminded me of the battery powered fishing games I played as a kid minus the extra plastic parts, sounds and batteries. My niece immediately realized that she could "cheat" by placing the magnetic stick directly on the puzzle piece instead of "fishing" the traditional way. This puzzle is of very poor quality, especially for a Melissa and Doug product. What disappointed me the most was the lack of pictures among the parts. We have several Melissa and Doug jigsaw puzzles, all of good quality with matching pictures below. I think you could argue that the puzzle is harder without pictures, but to be honest that just makes the puzzle cheap and uninteresting/unappealing for kids. Considering the age range of 3 to 4 and our daughter who is 4 and enjoys fishing I thought this would be a great winter toy; However, after actually receiving and reviewing the puzzle, it was passed on to our son who was then 16 months old (now 18 months old).
