🚿 Enhanced Shower CD Radio - Memorex MC1008 (Discontinued by Manufacturer) Review

We have had this radio for 10 years. The sound quality was excellent. We bought a charging adapter and never bothered to use it with batteries. the cd player was ok. Cons: The antenna was constantly loose, but there was always good reception of our favorite radio station. It was recently dropped and was sad that it broke after years of use. So we are now looking for a replacement.

Consumes and discharges 6 "C" size batteries in 38 minutes. I bought rechargeable batteries, they run out faster. Bought an adapter. It plays for 20 seconds, stops and says ERROR. Had I kept the box and receipt I would have sent it back. OTHER - OTHER - OTHER. Sounds like canned speakers. UPDATE: Sep 2009 I haven't bought a Memorex product since!

I tried to contact this seller and left many messages about the refund. I've used as many batteries as it cost me to buy a radio. Something is clearly wrong with this product. I have not received a call back or email regarding my return. I am not happy with this purchase and will never order anything from them again! The product is rubbish by the way. The battery charge lasts about a day!

I got this for Christmas and I'm sorry the people who bought it for me wasted their money. It's so expensive and you get such a poor quality product. The sound is terrible, a lot of static. Also, mine stopped working. I've changed the batteries countless times and the CD just won't turn. It just refuses to play my CDs. I have maybe 2 hours full usage of this product. The radio isn't that great either. Not recommended.

I do not use this product in the shower. I keep it on the counter by the shower. I have never injected it. However, after the 8th or 9th use, the LCD screen goes blank and all the buttons stop working. When the radio is on I cannot turn it off without removing the batteries. When the radio is off, I can't turn it on. It also does not recognize burned CD formats. To get the radio working again I have to take a hair dryer to dry it enough to turn it back on. Really bad product for the price

This was an expensive item I bought my son for Christmas. The design is VERY bad - it's hard to open the CD compartment. Very weak hooks to hang on the shower rod. A very, very nervous one to secure what looks like paperclips at best. A little adjustment and it falls! The rubber cover on the headphone jack and such doesn't stay down - not a great feature for a product that's supposed to be waterproof. I got the MC1008 for Christmas last year (2002) and I must be very happy because mine is still working! In fact, this year I was looking for Revain to buy someone as a gift. The thing eats batteries like crazy when playing CDs, but I use it almost exclusively for the radio function. By simply listening to the radio and only using it while showering, the battery will last around 4 months. As I said, it's almost a year old and all the features still work perfectly. That's a terrible excuse for a shower radio. AM and FM reception is terrible whether you take it in the shower or not. When I tried to use the included antenna it still didn't work any better. The sound quality is worse than expected. I wasn't expecting much from such a small system, but it's worse than anything I've ever experienced. To make matters worse, this shower radio eats batteries like crazy. Initially we used regular alkaline batteries and the batteries died after about 2 days of use.
