I've tried them all - my search is over!

I just had no idea what a difference a well made razor and blade can make. I've used all the multi-blade razors, you know the ones that sell you a pack of 4 blades for $25. I've tried regular folding razors with double-edged blades and Schick blades. I tried disposable razors and blades from Dollar Shave Club (really cool company, don't get me wrong). But it took me almost 50 years to discover a truly close and comfortable shave. This shaver is simply the best. It's heavy enough to do all the…

Good quality razor - great weight and feel

I have been using this shaver for a few months now and I am very satisfied with this shaver! The weight is nice and heavy - I shave about every 1/2-1 week so the mustache stubble is always thick and heavy. This shave sheds stubble well. One thing to note - this is NOT a BUTTERFLY design, the top unscrews to replace (or clean) the blade. I didn't notice it, but it's NOT A PROBLEM - I got used to it after a few shaves - Also, I think this design holds the blade better (I've used both designs).

  • Alright!

Quality razor, non-aggressive blade angle

Very high quality steel and a great razor. There is no need to repeat all of this. The good thing about this razor is that it has a non-aggressive blade angle, which I think allows you to shave in three directions in relation to the beard hairs without creating a hamburger face. It's less adjustable than other three-piece Mercury's, to be honest, but the in, sideways and against the hairline offers a close shave for me (with a very thick beard) even with the standard Persona blades. Control…

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers

  • Nothing

Good razor - a bit heavy and long

I have another Merkur model that I use weekly at home and I love it. This is for my vacation home. I've been using it for a few weeks and it works great. For me it is a bit heavy and a bit long, otherwise it is well made and designed like most models in the Merkur range. Does it shave better than my other Merkur's, no both work equally well. The Merkur 47c is a great entry-level razor because of its weight. What I have experienced with Merkur and other razors is: find one that suits you (most…

Looks soft so I use feather blades with great success, YMMV

For those not too fond of reading, for me this razor is soft (I'm new to DE at least) and with a The sharp blade, like a feather, causes less irritation and is comfortable with a little dexterity for a close shave (3 passes for BBS) and minimal nicks. The handle is ribbed with small accents that sparkle like small diamonds, a beautiful touch. The size I'd call medium, a little heavier but with a softer razor you're going to need it, at least for me. Now to the readers. Also). Like many others…
