Looks like many slicers but performs much better and looks good at the same time. It's firm, won't bend when you're slicing hard cheeses, and sharp enough to cut cleanly. I had a KitchenAid model that frustrated me because it flexed a lot when I pressed on it. This one is slimmer but stronger. This is comparable to what my family had when I was a kid.

I've been looking for a decent cheese slicer for a long time. This is the exact same version of the Hickory Farms my mom had years ago but with a lighter wood for the handle. Just like this case, when slicing cheddar cheese, a small piece breaks off the side instead of slicing cleanly to the edge, so I subtracted a star. The wood seems to need a little sanding.

10 stars if I could! This is an amazing cheese cutter for any hard cheese like cheddar. The slice size is just right and the slicer glides over the cheese. I bought it because a reviewer mentioned that it looks like the old Hickory Farms. I still have a Hickory Farms, but the stem fell apart a long time ago. When I placed my order, the product description said this cheese slicer was made by Bjorklund. Now they have changed the product description to say the manufacturer is The Little Green Change. It is definitely not made in Norway by Bjorklund, but in China. The handle is deformed (inconsistently and unevenly rounded) and the overall quality is questionable. So far it cuts cheese quite well, but I'd definitely recommend getting the more expensive, better quality version from Bjorklund, Wüsthoff…

Bought to replace a similar cheese cutter for mom. She loves it and is the perfect replacement for her old one from the 80's! She also has a more modern slicer with a similar design and an OXO-type rubber handle that outperforms the Bjorklund slicer in almost every way (except it's dishwasher safe). Ready to Use - The handle attachment looks durable and will last well over dozens of washes.
