Nice replacement for the 47 year old version

My mother had one since she got married and had to replace it. We were so excited to find out they are still making the same version. I will say it feels a little lighter to the touch but it does the job and is easy to clean. I was concerned that another brand uses plastic parts in the mechanism or doesn't have a wipe on the bottom to help clean what goes through the grinder. It's stainless steel and that's what we wanted. Works great, just like our old one!

Pros
  • Quality finish
Cons
  • So far so good

Toxic - caution good for fruit and vegetable tools

Stupid grinder ruined all my freshly canned tomatoes, it released a black substance on my tomato pot (stirred more than once) and then here they are, black spots 1/ 4 inch diameter on top, took this dumb thing apart and wiped the shaft with a white cloth to see if it was grease, I'm angry that time, money and effort is wasted in cans to end up throwing it all away, now Revane tells me my return window expired 5 days ago! Not only do I need a refund, I also need compensation for the lost crop.

Not even close to my old one and leaves a stain in the sauce

Bought this to strain cooked apples for applesauce. The old one is aluminum but I wanted to upgrade to stainless steel. I bought a bigger one to get the job done faster. Works very slowly, much slower than my old one. Also, despite thorough cleaning several times, there was a gray residue in the middle of the applesauce, so I had to throw the applesauce away. Tried several times and cleaned several times. I suspect the center spindle is reacting with the applesauce and corroding.

Do not buy! best fruit and vegetable tools

DO NOT BUY If I could give 0 stars I would. I have been working in the catering industry for many years. While it looks like a scaled down version of a good commercial paint/food grinder, it doesn't even do a decent job. Tried it first on roasted pumpkin with nutmeg, probably one of the easiest things to get through the food mill. More than half of the product remained above the auger and was not pushed through, even with a spatula. I'm throwing this junk in the trash where it belongs. Don't…

Doesn't meet my standards

I've been using my old Foley food grinder for 35 years and it has worked so well for me that when I realized they are now making stainless steel I was keen to upgrade. I figured a Foley brand would suffice, although the price was lower than some I've researched. However, I was disappointed that it just didn't get all the pulp like my old one. My old one had leftover meat that was dry and very little left, but this one looks like there was some pulp left. The mill just doesn't get it, so I end…

waste of money! The black stuff drips into the food!

Returns after just one use. I made applesauce out of it, we tried it I must say. About halfway through I noticed a black substance in the sauce (grease? metal?) coming from a nut/bolt on the bottom of the grinder. I took everything out of the mill and washed it. So, back to the applesauce, after one batch, the black mystery substance is back. So it's very disappointing when something like this happens after peeling 12 pounds of apples. The small legs that are supposed to rest on the shell are…

Works great, easy to clean

I understand what others mean when they say it's difficult to clean because bits of applesauce fruit peel stick to the grate. However, a few minutes of poking the back with a toothpick did the trick and left a delicious piece of fruit peel on top! Easy to use, very creamy blueberry and apple puree. Keeps the Doc away, keeps things organized and protects your eyes, should be eaten daily! If you're using it to separate the meat from the skin, do it little by little as the skin will cover the…

Avoid - Metel in my apple sauce

If I could I would give it a NEGATIVE 5 star rating. metal in my food! Stay away from this product. I figured with Foley's name being associated with him, that must be okay. Having used it once, I now think that Mr. or Ms. Foley would have thrown themselves in their graves after finding out their name was on this product. He arrived pretty much on time. I just picked a couple bushels of apples from a tree in the yard, got tin cans ready and a tin can to make applesauce. When unpacking the meat…
