Not made in Japan, fits micrometers

Made in Brazil. This mixture should be made in Japan. He doesn't pay for shipping it back to him. Buy elsewhere if you don't agree with Brazilian production.

Pros
  • Carbide coated spindle and anvil for wear resistance
Cons
  • Very expensive

That's fine, but I would suggest getting a click type

I think I now know what a "friction micrometer" is. I'm not a big fan of friction and the numbers don't match. 0.0005 reads like a full 0.001, but you string in a different number and it's 0.0005, which isn't cool for such a respected brand. I still have 3 Mitutoyo microns and this is the lowest of all microns.

Pros
  • vernier scale in inches for accurate outside diameter (OD) measurements
Cons
  • something else

When I got it 12 years ago it was with a 0-3" kit, recently the plastic lock broke lever and replaced it with a new micrometer, a friction thimble is my choice for the most sensitive and accurate measurements, almost zero force. bad idea, cheap stuff ruins reputation.

Pros
  • Baked finish for frame protection and durability
Cons
  • Crumpled
