Mitutoyo 182 202 Chrome Tempered Stainless: Precision Measuring Instrument for Accurate Results Review

I've always been a big Mitutoyo fan. The quality of their products is exceptional. I had a Starrett ruler and the damn thing broke. This Mitutoyo steel ruler has taken more damage than the Starrett and it still looks and works great!

Mitutoyo produces excellent scales with easy to read scales and excellent rust resistance. Note that this scale is very thin (1/64 inch or 0.4mm) and therefore may be more susceptible to bending or other damage than comparable products (e.g. Mitutoyo 182-105). I wish they had more 16R offerings.

I ordered two of these and the ones I received were made in Japan. They differ slightly from the picture, but the model number 182-202 is the same. I have no issues with the quality or the fact that they are from Japan. They are both top notch and Japan makes great instruments these days. But the pictures show very clearly that the rule is said to be made in the USA and the items I received are not. I would buy them again anytime after studying them.
