Definitely agree with other reviewers, seller should post a more accurate picture. This is Mitutoyo's best quality made in Japan - worth the extra money! Yes, string knives can be bought cheaply, but why? If you've put enough effort into checking pitch, you've put in enough effort to do it with a great tool! I love the friction locking dials - they work really well!

Pros
  • Check, measure and check
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Absolutely beautiful - perfect!

I have several thread gauges - some metric, some SAE, some Starrett, some unbranded. This one Mitutoyo gauge has a wide range of blades (which probably fit every size I've come across) and is well made. Best of all, it includes both metrics and SAE, so when I get my hands on this one tool, I always know I have exactly what I need. The one I received is made in Japan where the quality and attention to detail is second to none. After all, I've been a long-time Starrett customer for over 45 years,

Nice solid metal and made in Japan

I have never bought a Mitutoyo product before. Now I'm impressed. The retail photo provided for this product is inaccurate as it shows black plastic handles instead of steel. As I prefer steel, no complaints. The processing quality is excellent. The numerals are easy to read as they are stamped into the steel and not engraved as is common on inferior instruments. With this tool, Mitutoyo has also made a great tool available in addition to its renowned craftsmanship. I chose Mitutoyo over…
