Description of πŸ“ Accurate Calibration Graduations for Mitutoyo 193 211CAL Micrometer

Calibrated micrometer measures 0 to 1.0" with 0.0001" graduations and + or - 0.0001" accuracy, for taking outside diameter measurements. Vernier scale with mechanical digit counter displays in inches for precise measurements. Friction thimble to help provide uniform pressure for precise, repeatable measurements. Measuring faces are flat and are carbide-tipped for durability. Includes a Mitutoyo Certificate of Calibration that the tool has been calibrated, and meets the International Organization for Standardization/International Electrotechnical Commission (ISO/IEC) 17025 International Standard for testing and calibration laboratories.

I always have this micrometer in my shop apron. As much as I like the process of reading on a conventional micrometer, it's much more convenient to read the readings directly from numbers. This mic measures to the nearest tenth, but then you have to use the traditional vernier scale to get the last digit. .They can be calibrated in several ways: you can calibrate the thimble marks like a standard microphone, and you can open the digital part and correct the numbers shown. There are videos on…

Pros
  • Micrometer and accessories
Cons
  • Very expensive

I like digital measurements but don't like being dependent on batteries. My eyes aren't what they used to be, so it's nice to be able to avoid the vernier as much as possible (the last digit still depends on the vernier). Since you're mechanical and not computerized, you lose the inch to meter conversion, but I have a cheaper electronic one when I need to do it, which is pretty rare. In addition to the reading method, it has an amazing feeling of operation - smooth action and reliable…

Pros
  • Check, measure and inspect
Cons
  • Not automatic

This digital mechanical microphone does not require a battery and has an accuracy of +/- 2 microns which is approximately +/- 0.00008 ". It's slightly larger and heavier, and doesn't feel as comfortable in the hand as a purely mechanical, non-digital microphone. It's much easier to use than a non-digital microphone, but more cumbersome to use than a battery-powered digital microphone, for example. This is because this mechanical microphone has the digital counter on the front and the vernier…

Pros
  • Micron outside
Cons
