Easy to drop into the wall when removing or reinstalling the Moen 1222 shower valve cartridge Be sure to have a spare on hand in case it does drop into the wall (very easy to do). Because without proper installation, the valve becomes unusable.

Excellent replacement clip. I lost my original in the wall trying to remove the Moen Positemp with the rough valve. The valve stuck so bad I had to buy a "disassembly tool" for the Moen 1222 cartridges, this worked great but I had to replace the clip before it could be used. I bought 2 of these so I'll have the right clamp on hand next time I work on a client's shower faucet.

The clip was a bit long but it was easy to trim to the right size. It was also a bit tight so I had to spread it out a bit to make it wider. I wish Moen had included a spare clip with their cartridges so I didn't have to look for it as I couldn't find it locally. To be honest it's just an overpriced piece of bent metal that can rust if it's not copper. It did the job, so here we go.

Yes, if you dropped your original Moen faucet clamp and there's no way you can find it again, this is the same clamp that secures it and also the one you so hopelessly lost. Oretti is sure this is the only retainer configuration but if you have a photo of the retainer to verify I would go to him. I was able to make a temporary fixer out of Paperclio and it worked. I just didn't want to risk it forever. Not sure, but the paperclip might have been a permanent fix.
