Description of πŸš— Enhance Ride Quality with Monroe Shocks & Struts 58523 Shock Absorber and Coil Spring Assembly

REDUCES SAG UNDER LOAD -- Ideal for occasionally hauling or towing varying loads; heavy gauge, calibrated coil spring reduces sag when loaded up to 1,200 lbs. (capacity limited by suspension, tires and transmission; see owner's manual). EXCEPTIONAL HANDLING -- Tuned specifically for each application, full-displaced valving automatically adjusts to road extremes to provide ride consistency. CONSISTENT RIDE -- OE all-weather fluid contains special modifiers to handle extreme temperatures and PTFE-banded piston helps reduce friction between the piston and pressure tube to enhance responsiveness to changing road surfaces. LONGER SERVICE LIFE -- Self-lubricating fluid seal retains gas and reduces excessive friction against the piston rod to help reduce premature wear while heavy-duty nitrocarburized rod delivers long life. IMPROVES PERFORMANCE -- Nitrogen gas-charge maintains tire-to-road contact for improved ride and handling by reducing aeration and shock fade.

Adds additional towing/hauling capacity

I needed shock news and was planning a trip with about 700 pounds of gear. These units were perfect for the extra weight and really helped keep the 1999 Blazer 4X4 stable. I would highly recommend them to anyone involved in towing or towing. They make the ride stiffer when empty, so you might want to look at something without the spring if you don't need the extra weight upgrades.

Pros
  • Many fit
Cons
  • Some difficulties

They kinda work on the ZR2

It definitely stiffened the rear a bit, but the diff-lock trick doesn't work on Blazers. You have about 1/2 inch or so left before you can tighten them. They also made the ride a lot smoother, which as always is amazing. They don't fully line it up and I highly doubt they weigh 500-600lbs each as they can barely hold 500-600lbs overall.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Minor issues

S10 Blazer Handling Improvement

They run on standard leaf springs with 2" droppacks, so these shocks are about the same length as stock. The rear suspension is too soft, increasing the spring rate and improving handling significantly, especially on the S10 Blazers, which are much heavier than the pickup at the rear. With Moog ZQ8 coil springs front and rear, it makes an Extreme Blazer for the poor a fraction of the big brand's drop kit.

Pros
  • Great Design
Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging

Wear them today and they will make a big impression. Couldn't believe how much it improved the ride. They raised my GMC Jimmy about 2 inches and now it drives like new. One thing I had to do was lower the rear stabilizer bar to make installation easier and they are close to the stabilizer but expose it. In fact, I had to tighten the torsion bars up front to get them straight again. A good product. Let's see how they hold up!

Pros
  • Beautiful
Cons
  • Good but not great

They are sold in pairs!

Okay historically shock absorbers are sold by the piece. Even Sensa-Trac shocks are sold by the piece. NOT THESE. You get a pair for the price. It's not on the Revain website, although there are two shocks in the picture - just like buying one item, it shows several different looks. So I have a second pair that I don't need. I thought it was overpriced but my shocks beat me to death for my job (hauling stuff 1000+ miles a week) so I spent the money. I haven't installed them yet, so I'll have to

Pros
  • So far everything seems
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
