High quality electric clock

The clock looks very beautiful and high quality. I didn't install it because I'm not sure why it needs 12V switching power in addition to 12V DC.

Backlight too bright

I've had this thing in my dash for two days and I'm sure I'll never get used to a backlight that bright. That's ridiculous. It's like I'm driving and someone shines a flashlight in my face. I can definitely think of something else. Don't buy this.

This works well in spare parts

I've been looking on various websites for a car clock to use for a project. I was surprised to see a quality branded watch at a very reasonable price. Well, it's not a Moto Meter brand. Yes, it fooled me. Anyway, it's available and will probably fit my needs. I'll have to wait and see how it looks and works when everything is plugged in.

Update: The replacement clock was able to set the time, but the backlight is too bright

The clock does not set the time as instructed. It worked fine but didn't respond to the set (ground) switch to set the time. Update: The replacement sets the time accurately, but the backlight works like a spotlight and cannot be dimmed. Very bright and annoying at night. I have tried unplugging the "ignition wire" which turns off the backlight, but then the clock cannot be set, so this is not a valid solution. The "dimmer" wire connected to the car's light switch does not dim the backlight…
