99 Motorcycle Helmet Lock by Master Lock Review

Comes in packaging marked Gun Lock. It's definitely not 14 inches, maybe 7 max. It's a lock, yes it protects your helmet? If you have a place that takes up the lack of length. I was able to mount my helmet on the handlebars and thread it through one of the bars, but it was quite difficult for me to reach it to lock and unlock. Just spend a little more money and buy a real helmet lock.

My new Triumph doesn't have a built in helmet lock so I keep one in my jacket pocket. I lay the helmet back on the center of the handlebar and wrap the cable around the chin of the helmet and handlebar. It works well, but the cable is barely long enough and it's a little fiddly to block. If the cable was just 1 inch longer, it would be a lot easier to use.

Lightweight, small and definitely won't let a random thief get away with your cover while you park at the curb for lunch. The lock opens smoothly every time and when it is locked there is an audible and tactile response. Great value for the spirit. The keys are a little flimsy and I foresee one of them breaking if too much resistance is felt in the lock cylinder after a few years. Overall I like it and I recommend it!

This lock is good enough for its purpose. If someone wanted to steal the helm—God knows why—it would serve as a deterrent. And the price is great. Cons: 1) the cord can literally be 1-2 inches longer, 2) the key/keyhole doesn't fit the best (too much fiddling to get it in), and 3) you need a key for the cord to fit in the lock . I have two of these and they work the same way down to the awkward lock. But more than enough.

This item did not work on first use. I strapped my helmet onto my bike and the key return didn't go into the lock. Luckily there was an auto parts store across the street. I bought a small can of WD-40 and oiled the lock. It worked about twenty minutes later and hasn't let me down since. I drive a BMW F800ST and most BMWs have a rear platform for an extra holdall. So I placed my helmet where the bag would fit as the bike already has two side storage boxes and attached it to the helmet instead of the chin strap and it fits perfectly.
