The only mountain house scent that causes explosions.

If I posted a photo I would be banned. My buddy and I ate dozens of mountain huts on a hunting trip and we each succumbed to the violence of one bowl of chicken fajita and just one bowl of chicken fajita. This is the only flavor that gave both of us serious gastrointestinal effects 12 hours after consumption.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Some bugs

Instant new favorite!

Well I eat quite a bit of mountain food and this has definitely become a new favorite! Not only is it very tasty, the right texture and consistency, but also very satisfying! I'm not even sure about the nutritional value because I don't usually even look at them, but this particular meal is very satisfying and tastes so good you'll want to keep eating or not lol.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Band

I love the taste

I'm a big fan of Mountain House products. First, I absolutely hate processed foods. Can eat, food dehydrates, not a fan. I'm old school home cooked food. From now on I always take these products with me on hikes. An advice. Let there be five extra points. Enjoy! I tried beef stew, biscuits with gravy, alfredo chicken and blueberry granola. I would buy them all again.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Speed

Good flavor and toppings

My fault but I thought I finally found the pre-cooked chicken fajita packets but they have rice and a few other ingredients in them which makes it more like "Shell" Chipotle. (Which is clearly said.) It tastes good and I love all the ingredients except for the rice โ€” I'm not a fan of plates โ€” so I prefer the traditional fajita chicken pouches that MH used to make. I suspect the reason for the change is to add essential calories and carbs on the trail.

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Not bad but...

Defect - made us sick; such a shame. 3. Wrong crockery order

Defective packages - 3rd defective order in 2 months. We all had unusually bad physical reactions after eating chicken fajita. We've all had inflamed, painful mouth ulcers at one time or another. Such a shame. Mountain House has always been a great source of camping nutrition. We have been satisfied and loyal customers for many years. Unfortunately the last 3 orders of different dishes were not of the same quality.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • There are disadvantages

Got my stomach ripped open a few miles from the bathroom

I think I had a broken package. When I ate it, it had a metallic taste. I tried to tell myself if it was in my head or if it was my camp spoon. About 45 minutes after eating, my stomach started making crazy noises, so I went into the deep woods with a shovel. 20 minutes of suffering followed. I took an hour nap and woke up for round 2. It was terrible. My other meals were good and enjoyable, but I ate at my own risk. If it's a taste, throw it away!

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • I really don't like anything, everything is fine

Best Recommended in Camping

Newly added to my "will buy again" list for nature walks. Corn, peppers and chicken are clearly present in solid pieces. The spice was delicious. I'm glad I tried. Tip: I'm 6'5" and 230 pounds and I eat the 2-serving option with no problem (this goes for all meals at home in the mountains). In fact, I had enough room for some trail mix and dessert out of a Snickers -Bar My friend, who is 5ft 4" and petite, also ate the two-serving version and felt "full." Plan accordingly.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons

you have come far

It has been approximately 35 years since I last ate freeze dried food. You used to have a choice of Richmoor, or if you spent a dollar or so you could get "Premium" Mountain House and better taste. Even then, MH was the product of choice. The choice was still limited to chili poppy seeds, spaghetti or beef stroganoff. This chicken fajita bowl is AWESOME! I have another trip planned next month and will definitely be buying again as well as trying Pad Thai and a few other new flavors.

Pros
  • 1 year free trial
Cons
  • Available in white only

This particular Mountain House product was really good! I was stopped at a roadside campsite for the night and opened one. Pretty easy to fix, keeps you warm in your pocket for a long time and plenty to eat! I could save it for the next day and use it in a salad. These are the best I eat lightly and for me I can use them as two meals, one for one night and one for the next night. I would like to see the price a little lower.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Great Price
