Don't understand or don't like it at all

MSD COIL MADE IN CHINA!? I don't understand it or don't like it at all. The coil is hooked up directly to my 1996 Ram 5.9 with a Powerdyne compressor. It seems the idle is smoother, but overall there isn't much of a difference. I don't know where the Accel reel is made, but if it's in the US then I bet it's the best reel. Shame on you MSD for producing the offshore.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Some little things

This MSD coil is GARBAGE! Do not buy!

This spool is trash! Do not buy! Worked for 2 days, after that my jeep started to stall and stall. My Jeep stalled while driving, leaving me stranded. Glad I kept my old spool which was also larger than this piece of MSD junk. I should have listened to other people who had the same problem. Don't waste money and time. Buy mopar.

Very pleased - 93 4.0 XJ

Purchased to replace the stock coil on a 93 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L. It fits perfectly without the need for a new wiring harness. Easier to install if you just unscrew the bracket. Ran the XJ for 2 months with no problems and is definitely working much better! Works with Taylor Cable Thundervolt 8.2mm wires and a Davis Unified cap/rotor, it can now burn tires. lol. Very satisfied so far! I even recommended it to my brother who has a '96 XJ.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Something else

It's worth it! it would be nice.

REV: Installed. I got to the gas station and it stopped working. Had to be towed home. Too bad. THANKS FOR THE RATING! All the great reviews on this role were right! I have a Jeep Cherokee SE 95 2.5L. Broke at my Walmart. Towed home. Spark hasn't changed, CPS still no spark. While looking for ignition coils I came across this item at a local parts store for significantly more money. I wasn't sure if this would work, but thanks to everyone's input I jumped in and damn I'm always grateful…

Do Not Buy - Ignition Parts

Not sure what happened to the MSD, I ran this part number coil on a truck years ago and it was great. I recently bought another Dakota and thought it would be perfect based on previous experience. When fitted to the current truck the coil was difficult to start so it ran 2 miles on the first test drive, broke and had to be towed home. Since the engine would not start, the raw fuel damaged the catalytic converter and it would not start upon return. Installing a replacement spool solved the…

1 year of misfires and poor performance later.

A whole year chasing all sorts of problems. I replaced the fuel pump, adjusted the bands on my transmission and figured the TC in my transmission was starting to interfere. Once this thing almost embarrassed me. My truck lost all power and didn't respond to the gas pedal. Then it disappeared just as quickly as it had happened. I'm literally giving this thing 2 stars because it hasn't let me down. However. it was very close, and if it wasn't for the fact that it stalled my truck just long enough

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly

Breakdown at 135 km.

I installed this product on Friday evening (7/7). I drove 135 miles and it broke down on the road about 65 miles from home. Luckily I had my old coil in the Jeep because I had read some of the previous reviews about premature failure and was able to attach it with a 550 cable which I had to take home. I connected it because the hardware was too hot to install the O'Reillys brand coil which worked fine. I'm terribly disappointed in this coil as I used to have an MSD in my jeep and it was great…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Minor issues
