Ideal universal monitor with an aspect ratio of 21:9

I do a little bit of everything on my home PC: surfing the web, streaming, gaming, programming, photo/video editing, light CAD work, spreadsheets, writing reviews on the things I buy. etc. I've been looking for a 21:9 panel that has the right combination of features/price/brand for YEARS but have never come across one that I've felt comfortable with; Now that I've found the MSI MAG342CQRV, I'm glad it took me so long to find it. This thing is far from perfect. Colors are bright, darks are dark…

Ultra wide FTW! to my rating.

OK, let's be honest. The RGB on the back is useless. Looks great but it's on the back. Woo hu. Still, it's a fantastic choice for an entry-level ultra-wide model and a pretty decent price. 3440x1440 at 100Hz refresh rate is not bad at all. Not the highest, but not bad at all. Fine by me. I pair my rtx 3090 and Intel 10900K and it looks great. Color accuracy is pretty decent, and I haven't experienced any ghosting in the time I've owned it. In all honesty, MSI really made it one of the best out…

    • It's bright enough for me, but dark colors just don't get very dark.
What negative features does MSI Optix MAG342CQRV 3440X1440 Non-Glare Monitor: 100Hz, HDR, Curved, Adaptive Sync have?
    • I like the monitor but it doesn't have HDR. otherwise it's good.

I have 2 of these, one for my main table, the other is a Vesa installed as part of the racing simulator cockpit. What you should know is that the picture is great for a VA panel of this price. The curve is also very good for the price. The kit comes with a really good stand, if you're not fixed it's solid and adjustable. THEY DO VESA MOUNTING!: They say Vesa is compatible but WILL NOT ACTUALLY COME WITH A MOUNTING PLATE AND MSI DOESN'T SELL IT, you have to buy it separately and they don't make…

Good option for the price. Not recommended for playing in the sun.

Here's what bothered me when buying an ultra wide monitor: Ghosting/Blur: I didn't notice anything while gaming. You can find some of these during the ghosting test, but I bought this monitor for gaming rather than testing. So just grab the super light 3070 and you're good to go. Brightness: low, but suitable for dark or moderately lit rooms. The specs say 250 nits and that's probably correct. Not sure why the description says "HDR Ready" when you can't load another 150 nits. Image quality…

    Refurbished - MSI Certified

First impressions were that the color was coming from the smaller 144Hz HP Omen monitor, but after trying both it became less obvious. At first I wasn't sure what a Vesa mount is before purchasing, but a monitor mount seemed necessary as the standard setup squeezes the monitor. far ahead for my narrow table. Vesa mount 75x752. This monitor has a very nice curve that is not too harsh on the eyes, the brightness is a little off straight away but once adjusted it is comfortable. My nitpick is…

So far so good. (To update)

I just got the monitor and as someone who has never bought a "good" computer to play with, this just blows my mind. Before, I was actually wanting to get a 49" monitor, but my goodness, that thing is huge. Unfortunately, the monitor with the stand extends too far and I really have to tilt my head back as far as possible to avoid hurting my eyes .normal spacing.I'll look for a mount for it.No dead pixels. No displayport cable, only HDMI.I'll try to update it after using it a little longer.(Update)

Light colors not suitable for general computers

The build quality of this monitor seems to be pretty good. The stand is stable and has an adjustable height, which is good. The monitor I received had no dead pixels that I could see. The control screen monitors are pretty basic and don't offer a lot of customization options. I don't play games - I bought it for general computing and photo editing. The problem is that the monitor's color space exceeds the standard sRGB gamut, resulting in over-saturated cartoon colors, especially red and blue…

    MSI makes great monitors

It's the left one and I'll put it on the bracket when I get my new desk. I'm lucky in the dead pixel category, I don't have any of those that I can see, nor did I have them on my other 1. My other monitor is essentially an upgrade of that, which is 3440 144hz. That's only 44hz less, which means 0 to me. Even with the 3080ti, few games are capped at 144 unless it's FPS. I got about 160 fps in the new world but I can't stream it at 166 fps so it doesn't matter. Great price for a great monitor…

Works well for a used monitor being sold as new

The product works as expected, that means it works. The picture is clear, the cables work, you can see it. The previous owner's hair in foam, plus open packets of screws (came in a second zipped bag), loose wires that were carelessly packed, dirt on the front and back of the monitor, and a few other items point to what Thaley sold me a monitor that was not new but was owned or at least previously unpacked and reassembled in a box, not in the original packaging. I didn't pay for previously used…

    • Expensive

This monitor looks fantastic for the resolution, great detail. I was really looking forward to the ultra wide angle lens. Unfortunately, my monitor had to be returned. Most likely a power supply failure. After 20 minutes of use, it flashed different colors in full screen. Couldn't use it so they sent it back.

One of the best widescreen monitors

I've had this monitor for about 4 months now and have never had any problems with it. The 100Hz refresh rate is comfortable for gaming, and the stand is fully adjustable and holds up very well. I mainly use this monitor for productivity, but it's still good for gaming. I would recommend that you buy it for a lower price if it's on sale. The zipper on the back of the monitor is a plus and gives it a tech vibe.

    So much screen real estate

It was my first ultra wide and I have no regrets. It has almost no backlight, you hardly notice there's a bezel, and the curve radius is perfect for all-around use. Cons: My only complaint is the size of the stand, but that's to be expected with a large monitor like this. If you have a smaller table, you may need an arm mount.

Impressive specs but no image quality

Used for business applications, so mainly text is considered. The picture contrast is very bad. There is no real black and everything is rather washed out. Basically, when you turn on "Eye Protection" everything turns yellow. It's probably not that noticeable unless you're using it alongside a quality monitor. In addition, the VESA mount is 75 mm. So if you're trying to mount them on a stand big enough to hold them, you'll need to use the spacers that come with them. . It works, but looks…

So far no problems in my opinion

I haven't had any problems with it so far, after a month or two I had it. I like the curve on this monitor. It's more curved than the ultrawide monitor I replaced and I really prefer that one I think. Other than that, this is a 100Hz monitor that behaves as I would expect.

Got it, liked it, just buy it!

There are no dead pixels, packaging is perfect, 1440p 100Hz is great. Playing Cold War was a godsend, zero noticeable ghosting, and it was instantly calibrated to my liking! If you can't wait to stock up on Gigabyte's 34-inch model, this is definitely your second best option, if not first, for those who just want their first UW!

Display Port stopped working after three months.

This model has known issues with input switching and detection. The display port stopped working after three months, so now I don't have access to a 100Hz refresh rate. I returned the monitor and paid the restocking fee because the display port failed after my return date. Three months ago it was a great monitor but the displayport and input switching are very important to me and reflect the cost.

    Good monitor, but with defect

The monitor looks good except that it came with defects. There is a pressure/shock mark in the upper right corner of the LCD screen itself. I've been waiting for this for a while as it was delayed and now I'm disappointed with the quality. The monitor control also wants to be a bit better and is difficult to navigate. MSI should have used a joystick style here.
