Strong chemical smell!

I love Nalgene bottles and always buy them. This bottle has a strong chemical smell. Even water tastes strange when you drink it. I used the bottle for several weeks with numerous washes thinking it would fade. It's not like this. I come back and I worry that I've been using it for so long. Very unhappy. I'm not sure if the chemical issue is because these bottles are made of a different type of plastic or if it's not the usual clear plastic I've bought in the past.

Survived being moved. Something like that.

I had to replace my water bottle after years of service. I used it as a lane marker to help my daughter visualize parking spots. I mean it still held water but was pretty crushed so I figured my money's worth for the last 4-5 years and I bought some new spares. These HDPE bottles are very strong, more flexible than the colored versions and therefore resistant to cracking/breaking on impact. They're also a few ounces lighter if you're looking for pack weight savings. I will say that the ones I…

Lighter than regular Nalgene

I've been using Nalgene bottles for years and love them, especially for motorcycle trips and hiking. Single-use plastic bottles are the scourge of the earth. I am trying HDPE (UVPE) after reading that it is one of the safest plastics to drink. I'm also trying a heavier 40 ounce stainless steel bottle. People say that HDPE gives the water an odour/taste, but I don't really notice anything. I'm also confused, if the plastic gives off an aroma or taste, doesn't that mean some kind of plastic…

Lighter and stronger than Triton

Nalgene HDPE bottles are known for being lighter and stronger than other bottle types and brands. Housed in a pouch made from Reflectix, this 32-ounce HDPE bottle will initially carry boiling water on a winter hike, and then, when brought to a boil and slipped into a wool sock, becomes a night warmer. (Filled with boiling water, it might take your sleeping bag 8 hours to reach ambient temperature and stay warm long enough for you to sleep comfortably.) The lid also seals tightly, ensuring it…

Safe Plastic in Sports Water Bottles

I first bought a Tritan water bottle but couldn't forget that it was made of "7" plastic and found myself avoiding it. HDPE suits me better. I love that it's in the same plastic safety category as milk jugs. Love the retro look and the very forgiving semi-soft opaque material as opposed to the shiny one which was just begging to be scratched and potentially used as a weapon. There was a faint plastic smell on arrival so I washed the bottle with unscented dish soap, then filled it with vinegar…

I love love love my Nalgene bottles!

I love love love my Nalgene bottles and now have 4. With the exception of my 48 oz bottle (I use it on trips or longer excursions) my other 32 oz bottles become every day used, I always keep a half full in the freezer and change it (give or take) every 12 hours. This was my third 32oz purchase because I realized I needed another one during the summer months when the ice just wouldn't last all day. It also gives me the ability to keep frozen food in the fridge when traveling to keep other foods…

I recommend this article

I recommend this article. I like to use this item both outdoors and indoors. It's good for cold drinks. Can freeze the water inside without destroying it, it will regain its shape when thawed. Be careful not to drop it or the lid may break. Revain sells replacement lids. I have been using this item for over 10-12 years and have now purchased it for other family members as well. If you care about the environment, that's good because it's reusable. I use filtered water in this one and it tastes…

Very durable Nalgene

I purchased this particular style of Nalgene after a friend recommended it based on his experience with bottled water. He says clear plastic bottles are less durable and more prone to cracking. This Nalgene is made out of softer plastic so it bounces around a bit instead of slamming down on the ground. (I accidentally dropped it on the wooden floor the first day I got this bottle. lol) When I took it out of the box I noticed a few cosmetic dents, but that's just the look of the bottle and it…
